摘要 <p>1472532 Sliding gate nozzles for metallurgical vessels DIDIER-WERKE AG 26 April 1974 [27 April 1973] 20118/73 Heading F4B In a metallurgical vessel, a sliding gate nozzle (where an orifice in a sliding refractory plate can be brought into register with an orifice in a stationary refractory plate by rectilinear, rotary or part-rotary movement of the sliding plate) has means for increasing the pressure of the gas contained in the pores, gaps or fissures of, or between, the refractory plates so as to oppose infiltration of liquid metal therein or therebetween. The means comprises a groove in the contact surface of at least one of the plates which groove partially surrounds the orifice in said one refractory plate, and means whereby inert gas can be supplied to the groove. The vessel may contain liquid steel or copper; e.g. it may be a casting ladle for steel. As shown, a sliding gate nozzle comprises a stationary plate 3 with an entry bush 1 and a linearly slidable plate 7 with an outlet bush 9. Inert gas (such as Ar or N 2 ) is supplied through a connection 14 to a groove, shaped like a letter U or C, in the stationary plate 3. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), there is additionally provided a groove (20) in the slidable plate. The two grooves 11 and (20) together complete a closed loop surrounding the orifices 4 and 8 in every possible position of the sliding plate 7.</p>
