Luminous colour effects in relief on transparent materials, prodn. - using coloured varnish, adhesive and sheet of synthetic resin

Prodn. of coloured decorative luminous effects in relief and with variable intensity as a function of ambient light, on transparent or translucent materials, comprises applying coloured varnish to one surface of a transparent substrate, and drying it. At least one adhesive is spread over the dry varnish. A sheet of synthetic resin, pref. cellulose acetate, is then applied, allowing it to overflow around the varnished surface. The resulting article is then turned on a supporting table, and allowed to dry while the sheet of synthetic resin contracts, forming undulations beneath which the varnish is distributed. The articles is passed beneath a heating press to flatten the undulations.
