Additives to hydraulic cement to accelerate the onset of setting comprise (a) a cpd. to promote thixotropy in the mortar or cement, (b) a source of carbonate ions, (c) an aluminate and (d) an aluminium oxide. Promotes rapid onset of setting (e.g. within 1 hour) and prevents cement and mortal flowing out of gaps e.g. in shuttering after pouring before setting has occurred. The additives are esp. useful for addn. to pumpable or spraying cement compsns. |
