The self-aligning sliding element bearing comprises a ring (1) having a spherical outer surface seated in a spherical inner surface of a supporting housing (2). The ring supports a shaft for rotation and is itself pivotal in the spherical inner surface. To prevent the ring participating in the rotation of the shaft, a radial pin (4) secured to the housing engages a groove (3e provided in the outer surface of the ring. The groove lies in the plane including the ring axis so that the pivoting of the ring is not inhibited.
