Dryer for ceramic blanks comprises a conveyor which moves stepwise, moulds for contg. the blanks, and above the blank a nozzle which is mounted rotatably at the outlet end of a pipe for supply of a drying medium. Pref. the nozzle has two or more opposed vanes directly at an angle to the direction of outflow of the drying medium. The speed of rotation of the nozzle may be varied by varying the angle of the vanes to the direction of outflow of the drying medium. The nozzle openings may be partially covered by plates. Moisture is extracted uniformly over the whole of the blank, which prevents stress in the blank, and exposure to the drying medium can be carried out more intensively to reduce drying time.
