1477542 Coatings RIKEN KEIKINZOKU KOGYO KK 19 Sept 1974 [29 Sept 1973 5 Dec 1973] 46011/75 Divided out of 1477541 Heading B2E A dip-coating process comprises anodically oxidising a surface of an aluminium-based alloy workpiece, washing the workpiece with water after the oxidising step, dipping the suspended workpiece vertically into a bath of a water-soluble, thermosetting resin while the workpiece is still wet, lifting the workpiece from the bath at a speed of 0.3-2.0 metres/min to obtain a coating of desired thickness thereon and baking the coating on the workpiece. Preferably the substrates are deoiled and/or degreased by dipping them in an alkali solution. The coating material may be an acrylic resin, melamine resin mixture and inorganic pigments may be present.
