The air cushion table has lateral walls (2, 3). The bottom of the table consists of a transparent plaque (4) which has an airtight seal to the walls (2, 3). Above the plaque (4) is another transparent plaque (6) having holes (5) in it. These two plaques (4, 6) and the walls (2, 3) form a chamber (7). Compressed air is introduced into the chamber (7) via the duct (8), the air escaping via the holes (5) and thus producing the cushion of air necessary to assist displacement of the magnetic slider (9). Another plaque (13) is arranged above the air cushion. This plaque (13) has holes (15) in it arranged in a grill formation through which air from the air cushion passes. The plaque (13) has studs on it onto which are fixed permanent magnets (18).
|
