<p>Device for sampling molten melta and for measuring the physical or chemical properties of the metal uses a rod fitted on its bottom end with a cardboard tube contg. a temp. measuring probe and immersed in the melt. Parallel with the cardboard tube is a second tube, esp. made of cardboard, and contg. a sample mould with an ingate which is immersed in the melt. The two cardboard tubes are rigidly assembled to each other by metal hooks or pins which are protected from heat by thermal insulation, esp. using a refractory paste, fibres, coated sand, and/or an adhesive. The refractory pref. completely surrounds the hooks or pins holding the two tubes together, e.g. by using a sheat made of refractory fibres. Used for measuring the temp. of molten metal while simultaneously casting a sample for analysis. The device has a simple design and low cost.</p> |
