<p>The indicator is be-positioned at that point of the tank at which the gas is to be indicated, and of which the translucence properties are different according to whether the indicator is in contact with the gaseous or liquid phase of the gas. Pref. the tank is provided with a transparent window in the region of the indicator member, and contains a visually prominent element e.g. a design in at least one colour with the indicator member mounted between it and the window. The indicator pref. consists of a skin of porous material e.g. PTFE of rough tape quality; or it may be formed by the roughened surface of the transparent window. Method is used esp. for hydrocarbon gas.</p> |
