<p>The rotary piston IC engine is of the eccentric cylindrical rotor, radial sliding vane type, with timing by a pinion fixed to the casing and an annular wheel fixed to the rotor. The PCD of the pinion is specified to be less than that of the wheel by the ratio of the wheel PCD to the number of radial vanes the former being a multiple of the latter. The number and location of ignition devices is then based on the ratio 720 deg.: a number of radial vanes - 1. Continuous contact between the vanes (31) and casing surface is ensured by lugs projecting from the ends of the blades into an axial ring groove, rectangular in section and suitably lined, in the casing. The blade ends can be notched to take a projection from the casing.</p> |
