The fitting for doors and windows has a baseplate with holes for fastening screws and hole for door handle. On this baseplate is fixed a plate for covering screw heads. This covering plate can be repeatedly moved out of covering position and back where it snaps into position. The rotating plate (15) is pressed against the baseplate (14) by a spring (18). The baseplate ends have depressions (29) into which fit projections (28) of the cover plate. The circular spring (18) is held on the underside of the baseplate in an opening (17). Inadvertent rotation of the cover plate on operating the door handle is prevented.
