Yarn irregularities indicating and registering device has two counters one for measuring the yarn length and the other for indicating the irregularities. The length measuring counter is provided with circuit means which are effective to produce a resetting pulse for the second counter when a predetermined yarn length has been established and the counter is provided with further circuit means which are effective to trip the winding or spinning stations when a predetermined number of counts has been attained by the second counter during the predetermined yarn length. Device can be used for yarn cross-winding or rotor spinning machines. Yarn bobbins having a small number of irregularities are produced and bobbin changing in weaving looms is dispensed with. Yarn irregularities are reduced to two per 4000m.
