The walking cane or shooting stick has an enlarged tubular shaft (3) which may contain a rolled flexible (7) chart or prayer scroll. The chart can be withdrawn from the interior of the saft by means of a roller-bline type winding spindle. The cane has handle (1) or folding seat together with a ferrule or point at the other end. The enlarged tubular shaft may be co-axial with the cane and contain a rotatable winding spindle. A spiral spring may be used to ensure that the chart is automatically rewound onto the winding spindle. The spindle may be fitted with fasteners which secure the chart in place. The chart (7) may be withdran through a longitudinal slot in the tubular shaft (3).
