The de-icing mechanism is for car-door locks and boot locks and may also be used on an automatic vending machine. The mechanism consists of an electric heater element fed by a battery, which is placed close to the lock. Connections are positioned so as to be easily accessible from the outside of the car/vending machine and these enables the heater element to be connected and disconnected. It is preferable if these connections are placed near the lock so that they can be activated by the key.
