1488999 Shaping double-glazing panels ETABS GEORGES KLEIN 11 March 1975 [18 March 1974] 9978/75 Heading B5A A process for producing a double glazing panel, e.g. a vehicle window, comprises superposing a transparent sheet of thermoplastics material upon another, heating the facing edge regions of the sheet to approximately 200‹ C. and pressing and welding the edge regions together, and deforming the unattached sheet regions to separate them by a pressure or vacuum exerted upon the sheets at a temperature of the order of 100‹ to 160‹ C. After the welding step, for which the sheet edges may be heated by elements located adjacent the edges and between the sheets, the sheet assembly is positioned in a frame 7 with the interposition of a pneumatic tube 8 and heated by panels 9. Air or other gas is fed through a hole 10 to deform the sheets 1, 2 which are then cooled. Instead of the free forming arrangement shown the sheets may be supported during their deformation by mould surfaces. Hinges may be moulded into an edge of the assembly. |
