1491149 Stabilized polyamides E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 24 July 1975 [31 July 1974] 31038/75 Heading C3R Stabilized polyamides are produced by polymerizing a polyamide-forming salt solution containing cupric nitrate, an alkali metal chloride, bromide or iodide and a phosphorus compound where R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or alkaryl; Y is H a metal cation or an ammonium group and n is an integer corresponding to the valency of Y. The process of Specification 1,491,150, which inter alia requires specific proportions of both KBr and KI, is disclaimed. The polyamide is preferably nylon 66 or a 66/6 copolymer. In specific examples the P compound is potassium phenylphosphinate. Reference is made to Specifications 898,889 and 839,067. |
