The re-usable space shuttle has different shapes depending on the use and the payload. It is launched using variable geometry thrust rockets which provide greater steering control in the atmosphere and in space. The design of the craft is such that it provides maximum comfort and safety for the occupants. In the event of thrust failure the craft can glide through the atmosphere. Partial failure in space can be counteracted by varying the thrust geometry. The craft has the variable geometry rocket motors arranged at the wings and tail to allow vertical takeoff and landing.
