Samples are heated in an identical pattern with a non-isothermal, time-dependant temp. graph, to decompose then and produce the thermal decomposition products. Products are ionised to produce minimum destruction and the ions current corresp. to the different mass-charge ratios of the decomposition products are detected adn recorded for each specimen as a three-dimensional array of a very large number of current values. This corresponds to all detectable mass-charge ratios within a specific range. Recording is carried out for a large number of successive intervals of time during the heating process. One dimension of each three-dimensional array corresponds to the ion currents, the second to the mass charge ratio and the third to the temp-time function. Representative values of the recorded three-dimensional array for each specimen are correlated with representative values of the arrays for the other specimens. Method is esp. for investigating specimens comprising lymphocytes, luecozytes, phagozytes, erythrocytes and thrombocytes, bacteria, yeasts, moulds fungi viruses and single-cell organisms.
|
