In roller shutter manufacture the slats are of the type with a hook-shaped fixing section and an accommodating section. There is a metal part (1) and a plastic component (2), at least partially firmly joined to each other. In manufacture, a metal strip can be shaped by rolling into its ultimate form, and plastic can be extruded into this, pref. into a hollow shaped-section unit, with the metal strip subsequently cut. The metal part may enclose the plastic element on two or three sides.
