<p>A novel antibiotic designated herein MM 17880 may be obtained from the cultivation of strains of Streptomyces olivaceus and related organisms. In addition to being potent antibacterial agents, MM 17880 and its salts inhibit beta -lactamase obtained from many organisms so that it shows a synergistic antibacterical effect when combined with beta -lactam antibiotics.</p> |
