The walkway ballustrading uses 'H' form posts (10-12) to support two parallel rails (25, 25a) defining the walkway and is of partic. application on motorway type traffic sign gantries of box section members (2a). When used on a sign gantry the ballustrading forms a maintenance walkway. The posts (10-12) are placed at longitudinal intervals with the bar (12) of the 'H' aligning normal to the long axis of the gantry member (2a), and the rails (25, 25a) are strap-bolted (23) to the opposed upper leg lengths. Once installed the bar (12) sits on the top horizontal surface of the gantry member (2a). Post fixing may be by a wedging action with the distance between the legs (10, 11) being slightly less than the width of the gantry member (20) and the legs, thus, straddle-gripping the member secton.
