Cold-rolled steel strip is heated to a temperature higher than its recrystallization temperature, preferably faster than 4 DEG C/s. The strip is then held for more than 30 seconds. The strip is then cooled by immersion in an aqueous bath maintained at substantially its boiling temperature within a temperature range of 80 DEG -150 DEG C.
