Continuous prodn. of rolls of wound material - uses band material wound on sleeve formed from same material

Procedure for continuous prodn. of rolls of web of different length and width with or without a sleeve takes place in unwinding phase and winding on phase. The unwinding phase is carried out automatically in a free space corresponding to the form of the roll on a mandrel which is inserted sidewards in the free space. When the material reaches a predetermined number of layers the mandrel with the layers of material is transferred to a winding on station in which the mandrel is removed from the layers of material. The so formed sleeve is then used to wind on a further web of material by a system of guide rollers and a running endless guide belt. When a predetermined length of the band material is wound on the sleeve the web is cut through and the finished roll removed from the winding station.
