Coalface infusion probe metering valve - has slide and choke with bore to link pump to slide and radial bores to probe

Water metering valve for coalface infusion practice involving several probes with supply pump and interposed metering valves for each probe. A valve slide (10) urged by spring towards the pump has an axial bore (11) with throttle (13, 14) which leads from the pump connection (5) to the sprung side of the slide (21). Bores radiating (15, 16) from this are either closed by the valve (2) or connected to the probe connection (7) depending on the slide (10) position. The slide (10) and housing (2) are refined steel surface hardened so that the slide surface is softer than that of the housing. The housing tolerance is smaller, possibly zero as compared with that of the slide which has a seal (24) between pump and probe connection points (5, 7).
