Powered drilling machine esp. for paper stack is designed to facilitate longitudinal and transverse alignment to coordinate stack movement and drill spindle so that lost time and self-blocking are avoided. The working table can accommodate three stacks (3, 4, 18) arranged to form the corner of a right angle. (Third stack (18) can move transversely relative to the other two stacks and is guided on adjustable and lockable guide- and stop-strips (21, 22). The stack feed unit is controlled by a start switch (6) operated by the stack and a cut-out operated by the feed mechanism. A blocking rail (26) which can be brought into the path of motion of the transversely movable stack (18) is coupled to the stack pusher (16).
