The window opening and closing mechanism has operating levers (2, 6) which interlock and include an adjust ing arrangement at the interlocking connection. The end of one lever (2) is U-shaped, and fits around the flat end (1) of the other lever (6). The inside of the U part (3) has trapezoidal section teeth (5) which interlock with the teeth (7) along the edges of the inner lever (6). These teeth extend only partly down the depth of the inside of the U section. The outside faces of the sides of the U-section carry finer V-shaped vertical cut outs, extending from top to bottom. All the teeth are formed by a stamping operation. An incision (10) is made where the teeth begin, to asist bending.
