1396435 Separating water from fuel oil STANADYNE Inc 27, Dec 1972 [27 Dec 1971] 59653/72 Heading B1D Entrained water is separated from diesel fuel by outward filtration through a knitted nylon bag 34 which retains the water except below the water level in the downstream side of housing 42, 44, water draining from outlet 29 and fuel from outlet 25, and the pores of bag 34 are capable of stretching elastically to pass wax particles at low temperatures. The separator illustrated is used upstream of a filter unit as in Specification 1303576 (Figs. 1, 2 not shown) with a pump between them to break up the wax particles so that they pass through the filter unit. The mouth of bag 34 is sealed by adhesive 40 to housing cover 42. Cover 42 has a lug 31 which engages an indentation in base 14 so that the filter unit cannot inadvertently be replaced by a separator. The bag weave is defined as 132 needle, 70 denier 2 ends, 34 filament ribbed-knit. |
