1501000 Electric connections in diaphragm cells KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 18 Aug 1975 [23 Aug 1974] 34307/75 Heading C7B In a multiple vertical diaphragm electrolytic cell for NaOH production, comprising a plurality of flat box-like unit anode chambers disposed electrically in parallel in a cathode chamber with a conductive base 16, each anode chamber comprising a pair of diaphragms 3 over the outer faces of which a wire cathode 4 is held in a frame 5, and inside which a pair of anodes 7 face the diaphragms, an improved electrical cathode connection is provided. This comprises a plurality of spaced conductors 15 extending down from the frame 5, in combination with complementary mating ribbed parts 17, 18, on the cell and anode chamber side walls which . co-operate with a tightening means 19 to press the contacts on to the cell base. Forked parts 15 of Fe, tipped with Ag or Cu and supported by springs 21 may be used. Conventional diaphragm, anode and cathode materials are used. The anode chamber may be lined with rubber or a halogenated polymer 11.
