<p>Extn. of liq. hydrocarbon from the surface of water in wells or boreholes is effected by sinking a container into the hydrocarbon layer, with an inlet value through which it is filled, and a pipe correction to the surface, through which inert gas is passed to displace the hydrocarbon through a outlet valve and riser pipe, to the surface. Used for removal of hydrocarbons slightly soluble in water, esp. pyrolysis naphtha from the surface, before pumping up the water. No pump contg. seals damaged by the hydrocarbon, is used.</p> |
