<p>The rigid shell airship has a streamlined shape, preferably a disc, with the inside space separated into two chambers by a flexible membrane. One chamber contains the lifting gas while the other part is pressurised by air pumps. The control of the air pumps regulates the size of the gas chamber and hence the lift. The lift is carefully regulated without requiring complex and heavy gas heaters or gas bottles. The system is designed to generate sufficient lift for the propulsion unit to raise the craft into the air, and carry a usable payload.</p> |
