Vacuum switchgear with contact arcing monitor - has holder for X=ray sensitive film strip and X=ray tube fastener

Near the switchgear vessel (1) is provided a holder (16) for film strip made of X-ray sensitive material. A fastener (24) for an X-ray tube is also provided. Preferably the holder surrounds the switchgear vessel in a half circular configuration. The holder may be simultaneously adapted to receive a screen (37) protecting the film strip against stray radiation. The X-ray tube is typically of pulsed type. The holder may form a part of an insulator separating adjacent switchgear vessels from each other. The system configuration permits reliable evaluation of the state of the monitor contacts.
