1505016 Cutting tools SECO TOOLS AB 18 May 1976 [20 May 1975] 20519/76 Heading B3B A tool holder for receiving a hard cutting insert 11 having a central aperture 16, comprises a shank 10 having an insert receiving site at one end, a pin 17 extending from the surface of the site for engagement with the aperture in the insert and a clamping member 20 for urging the insert into abutment with the pin to clamp it on the site. The clamping member has a recess 26, 27 of corresponding configuration to adjacent sides of the insert and is provided with serrations 29 which co-operate with corresponding serrations on the shank end. A screw 22 is provided to effect the clamping action between the member 20 and pin 17 and has a conical head portion 23 which engages with a conical portion 24 in an eccentric bore 25 in the clamping member whereby tightening of the screw in a threaded bore in the shank body 10 causes displacement of the clamping member along the serrations and urges the insert into clamping engagement with the pin 17 a spring 30 being provided in the bore 25 in the clamping member to facilitate the release of the clamping loads when the screw 22 is released to change the insert. The insert may be of triangular or rhombic configuration. |
