The sliding valve for furnace duct has sliding plate which falls into open position by gravity. This sliding valve is guided, held and sealed reliably. The sliding valve housing (3, 5) has constriction (9) on the insertion end of the sliding plate. The sliding plate slides between housing inner walls (10) so that both surfaces of the plate are sealed. The insertion end of the sliding plate (1) has seals (13) which can be moved in or out of the slots (14) formed on the constriction (9).
