1514361 Titanium chelates from α-hydroxy acids and glycols TIOXIDE GROUP Ltd 16 Feb 1977 [13 March 1976] 10157/76 Heading C2C The invention comprises titanium chelates comprising a reaction product of an alphahydroxy carboxylic acid and ethylene, propylene, diethylene or hexylene glycol titanates in which 1 to 3 moles of α-hydroxy acid are present per mole of said glycol titanate. The hydroxy acid is lactic, alpha-hydroxy-butyric, citric or glyceric acid. The titanate may be preformed by reacting the glycol with a tetra-alkyl titanate, or with titanium tetrachloride in the presence of ammonia and a solvent. Aqueous solutions of the chelates are used for the gelling of hydroxyl polymers. |
