<p>Paraffinic complexes according to Specification No. 7631492 are used as constituents of thermal casings, and contain 45-65 wt.% paraffins together with 35-55 wt.% of metals, or their oxides or silicates. One gp. can augment the thermal conductivity of the complexes, being pref. magnesia, Al or Al oxide, and pref. present at a level of 5-10(7-9)wt.%. A second pref. gp. can augment the plasticity of the complexes, being kaolin, magnesia or talc, 8-15(10-12)wt.% kaolin is pref. The complexes are pref. solid at 50 degrees C and are pref. a mixt. of 75-85% n-docosane and 15-25% n-tetracosane. They can be used in association with all active principles or pharmaceutical excipients compatible with cutaneous applications. The complexes have a high heat capacity and are used therapeutically as casings. They are of benefit in heating and muscular loosening to recover joint mobility etc.; in rheumatology; dermatology; gastro-enterology; and as an aid for the treatment of obesity.</p> |
