Excessive inclination of a vehicle such as an agricultural tractor is sensed to warn the driver when the critical vehicle inclination has been reached. This enables the driver to avoid turning over the vehicle. The detector comprises a casing (10) mounted by a protrusion onto a bracket on the vehicle. The sensing element (20) is mounted on a light ballast weight (60) in a liquid bath (62) and oscillates as the vehicle moves. Movement is detected when the sensing element contacts elements (36) through which a current passes via a terminal (66) to a warning indicator. Damping is provided by vertical (56) and by radial (57) suspension springs.
