1518396 Making gusseted bags HAVER & BOECKER 28 April 1976 [30 April 1975 17 Sept 1975] 17303/76 Heading B8C [Also in Division B5] Apparatus for packaging bulk goods inside gusseted bags includes means 8, 9 for intermittently pulling a gusseted tubular film 3 to a welding station 29 which forms bag bottom seals in the film, and an auxiliary welding station upstream of the station 29 for welding the gusset flaps together adjacent the eventual position of the bag mouths to ensure retention of the gussets during the packaging. The auxiliary station is vertically adjustable and comprises heated jaws 17, (18) moved inwardly by a pneumatic cylinder 24 and returned by springs 25, and spring pressed clamps bearing on ptfe belts. The gusset welds may extend longitudinally of the film or may additionally include a transverse portion at the position of the eventual, adjacent bottom seal. Alternatively the gusset weld may comprise dots (40) disposed regularly or irregularly in a grid. A conveyer 32 moves the separated bags to a bag opening device and a filler pipe. |
