<p>The remote-controlled connection couples a supple-walled pipe (60) to a cylindrical hollow steel pile (100), and is for use in installing the pile (100) beneath the surface of a body of water e.g. a sea, a lake or a river. The pile (10) is suitable for installation in beds of sandy or silty soils (12), and is driven by drawing the sand (121), suspended in water, up through the body of the pile. The connection enables the induction hose (60) to be uncoupled from the head of the pile (100), and by operatives working on a surface vessel. The connection is incorporated on a head (50) which is suspended bya a control cable (40) from the vessel above, and in an annular clip (71, 72) which clamps the hose onto the head of the pile. The head also includes a clip-release mechanism (73 to 76) which can be operated from the vessel above.</p> |
