Electrolytic capacitor with aluminium housing - has end support with spring fingers to centralise winding

An electrolytic capacitor has a housing (102) made from drawn aluminium tube. The terminals (106, 107) are connected to the electrodes made of aluminium and paper impregnated with electrolyte which are coiled to form a cylinder (101) with a central hole. The cylinder is centralised by pins (116, 112) which project from the upper end cap (103) and lower support (100) respectively. The lower support consists of a base plate (113) attached to a split ring of L shaped cross-section. The ring has three spring fingers (111) which grip the surface of the cylinder and keep it in the centre of the housing. At the same time the support protects the cylinder from shock and vibration during transport.
