The stopper permanently inserted in the neck of the bottle has a valve (6) resting on a seat (7). The valve has a stem which carries a stirrup (10) located centrally by means of lugs (15). The stirrup houses a ball (11). The top of the valve has a convex plate (5) enclosed below the outlet passages (3). The stopper is sealed into position by a strip (14) which also locks the cap (12) into position. With the bottle up ended the ball forces the valve open. The upright bottle cannot be filled with the stopper in position against the closed valve.
