Funnel shaped filter inset for coffee prepn. has an embossed section on the straight bottom edge and one further embossed section on each of the two opposite side edges. One of the two sides of the filter inset has an opening edge extending parallel to the bottom edge positioned in the centre of the opening area. The other side (1) of the filter inset projects beyond the opening edge (7') extending parallel to the bottom edge. The opening edges of both sides of the filter inset are either segment or straight shaped except for the centre area of one side of the filter inset running parallel to the bottom edge.
