Mine gallery supporting arch bottom joint - has bracket on side channel base bolted to fitting at end of floor channel

The lining system for mine galleries includes arches matching the shape of the tunnel, made from trough shaped channels (2, 9). At each joint between the bottom of the side channel (2) and the end of a floor channel (9) is a connector (10) bolted around the vertical part of the side channel. Against this is secured a fitting (15) mounted on the sloping extremity of the floor channel. The connector is a trapezium shaped bridging piece with flanges each side, with holes for securing rods (12) for bolting on the other fitting. The latter may have similar flanges and has a sloping tongue (14) to match the slope of the extremity of the channel (2). Alternative design include sockets fabricated strip material connections for the extremity, instead of the sloping tongue.
