<p>The bread bin has a sliding shelf which can be drawn out like a drawer and used to support the loaf whilst it is being sliced, or the slices, whilst they are being buttered. The shelf is hinged to a support at its inner end so that when it is pushed into the bin the shelf swings downwards. This inclined position of the shelf allows any crumbs, made when slicing the bread to slide down into a recess formed in the base of the bin. The crumbs can then be removed at any convenient time. The idea can also be adapted to fit into the drawer of a kitchen table.</p> |
