<p>The jig is to measure vehicle body and chassis dimensions using preselected reference points on the vehicle. The jig can be adjusted to suit different vehicles and models. The measurements are made automatically without vehicle preparation and without risk of damage to the vehicle or jig. The item consists of a basic frame (1, 2) mounted on legs (6) and wheels (7) which allow correct positioning. Contact elements (11) give precise three dimensional measurements within the frame area with reference to a point on the vehicle. The contact elements (11) are mounted on moving vernier plates (13) that can move at right angles to each other in the horizontal plane, and in the vertical plane using vernier support cylinders. The verniers contain holes at 10 (or 9) mm pitch to a 1 mm tolerance. Vernier scales contain holes at 1 (or 0.9) mm pitch to a 0.1 mm tolerance.</p> |
