The profiled wedge is used for fastening the shaft of a hammer on hammer head. this wedge ensures that contact is exerted by the handle against the handle locating hole in the hammer head. Sufficient clamping effort is maintained even after long use or progressive dr ing of the timber shaft. The profiled wedge (1) has a flat web (2) with outwardly turned wedge plates (3). The latter point inwardly in free state and are curved. The plates can be parallel or inclined towards each other before they are driven into the hammer shaft end. The curved plates can be provided on their inner faces with guiding chamfer (8).
