The removal unit for e.g. a waste tip has a bridge movable in the longitudinal direction of the tip, on which travels a truck in the transverse direction carrying a loading unit. This is in the form of a bucket chain (11) guided around the bridge (8) by at least three guide rollers on the truck. Two of the rollers (18, 19) are positioned to both sides of and above the bridge while the third is located centrally below. At least one of the rollers (e.g. 19) can be moved from the side of the bridge by extendable struts (40, 41) attached to the truck (9).
