Magnetic bubble element (magnetic bubble storage element) is composed of two composite magnets, with a storage platelet clamped between them, the magnet producing a magnetic field perpendicular to the platelet. Each magnet comprises a shaped permanent magnet plate with a coating or facing of material possessing high permeability to improve the magnetic flux distribution. Each permanent magnet plate is pref. of hard ferrite material, more specifically barium ferrite or strontium ferrite. Specifically, the magnetic plate has a square or circular central hole. Alternatively, the magnetic plate is concave, i.e. thinner at the centre, while the face plate is of uniform thickness. By intensifying the magnetic field around the perimeter of the plate, a greater uniformity of the field is achieved over a wider area. This enables either a larger platelet to be used for a given size of the two magnets, or smaller magnets to be used for a given size of platelet.
|
