Positioning device for type head carrier - has voltage reference points connected to voltage source and contact wiper moving over them

A rotatable type-head carrier of a printing machine or similar is positioned in one of several positions determined by a reference element. An actual value generator is moved synchronously with the movable carrier. The actual value generator comprises a series circuit connected to a voltage source and consisting of voltage reference points with contacts between them. A wiper can move over them. Voltage collected by the wiper is applied to a nominal/actual value comparator. The comparison result determines the d.c. motor direction and angle of rotation for the carrier.
