In a blind stitch sewing machine, there are two adjacent carriers, with a constant shift cycle for the first carrier, and a variable shift cycle for the second carrier achieved by altering the swing radius of a pivoting clip for the adjustment mechanism attached to the machine frame. A slide with a bolt link gives a radial adjustment limit for the pivoting clip. The slide is supported by a running roller and switch on the machine frame so that, from a start position, the swing radius of the bolt is reduced on the pivoting lever, to increase the shift cycle of the second carrier. The adjustment for the second carrier is so simplified, that it can be executed while the sewing machine is in operation.
