The complete installation includes a process for utilising energy with a system utilising this process which is in the form of an energy conveyor, convertor or store. In any of these forms it operates as a continuous transformer of the quantity and quality of energy. In a preferred from it form it achieves this by means of an alternate tensioning and release of a sliding tensioning system. This is programmed and controlled to make use of the different mechanical properties of different materials. A useful output is obtained from the forces restricting movement by the periodic reversal of the motion. In a preferred construction a linear motor carries a trolley which reciprocates between two guide rails which hold permanent magnets.
